Editing & Script Style

⚠️

Read this first: these styles only do anything on Experimental reasoning. On Low or Medium they are ignored completely. Your video is produced with the standard defaults, exactly as if no style were saved. Training a style and then generating on Medium is the most common way to conclude this feature is broken when it is not. Check your reasoning effort before anything else. See Generation Models.

The Editing Style tab of a Brand Profile after a reference video has been analyzed

Your channel already has a look and a voice your audience recognises: the way your videos are cut, and the way your narration is written. Describing all of that in every prompt is slow, and the result still comes out slightly off-brand.

VidRush learns it instead. Paste in one video from your own channel and VidRush works out how that channel edits and how it writes. What it finds is saved on your Brand Profile and applied to every video you make with that profile, and you can change anything you disagree with.

These are two separate tabs on your Brand Profile: Editing Style and Script Style. They work independently, and each one takes its own reference video.

Both tabs and the video page carry the Experimental warning above.

How to train a style

⚠️

Before you start, confirm your reasoning effort is set to Experimental. A style trained and saved on a Low or Medium project has no effect on the output.

  1. Open your Brand Profile and go to the Editing Style or Script Style tab.
  2. Paste a link to a YouTube video from your channel.
  3. Press Analyze.
  4. VidRush watches the video in the background. The rest of your Brand Profile keeps working while it runs.
  5. The tab fills in with the style it found.
  6. Read it over, change anything you want, and press Save changes.

Analysis takes minutes rather than seconds, because the video is actually watched end to end. You are never stuck waiting on it: leave the tab, keep working, and come back.

💡

Train each tab on a different video if that serves you better: your best-edited video for Editing Style, your best-written one for Script Style. There is no requirement that they match, and neither needs to be your most popular video. The analysis learns from how a video is made, not how it performed.

What each style captures

StyleWhat it learns
Editing StyleYour channel’s look: how it cuts, how much of each kind of footage it uses, how it uses clips of people speaking against cutaway footage, and how it opens.
Script StyleYour channel’s writing: a summary and a mood, who it speaks to and how formally, how it is structured, how fast it is narrated, how it opens, how it closes, and how it asks for likes and subscribes.

Editing Style also records mood, on-screen text, animation, effects, transitions, pacing, call to action, and colour. These are used when your video is made but are not shown in the tab. Styles you saved before this was added still open and work normally.

💡

A style is inspiration, not a template. Editing Style learns how your channel combines footage, animations, and templates, not the structural furniture of a particular format. So a documentary reference video does not make your Top 10 videos stop behaving like Top 10 videos, and it will not import format-specific devices like chapter animations.

Visual signature has no normal control on the Editing Style tab. It is filled in for you and can only be changed in the raw text view.

Editing what VidRush found

Every part of a saved style is yours to change. Two ways to do it:

  • The normal controls. Fields and options on the tab itself.
  • The raw text view. The full style as text, for editing anything the controls do not expose, including Visual signature.

Both stay in step with each other and enforce the same rules, so it does not matter which one you use.

Editing is only available once an analysis has finished.

⚠️

Running a new analysis on a tab overwrites that tab’s saved style immediately. There is no version history and no confirmation step, so a style you have spent time hand-editing is gone the moment a new analysis completes. Copy the raw text view somewhere safe before you re-analyse.

📌

Both styles are optional. A Brand Profile saves perfectly well with neither one, and an empty Editing Style or Script Style tab does not count toward the missing-fields badge.

Reference video requirements

The style is only as good as the video it was learned from, and there are videos this cannot work with at all. Your link is checked the moment you paste it, and a video that is turned down comes back telling you what it looked like rather than just failing.

CheckWhat works
PlatformA YouTube link. The normal site, the mobile or music version, or a short youtu.be link all work.
The linkMust point at one video. A channel page or a playlist will not work.
Kind of videoA narrated documentary or video essay. Someone presenting to camera is fine.
NarrationThe narration must be in English.
LengthAt least 3 minutes. Shorter videos are turned down.

What gets turned down

Gameplay and streams, vlogs, music and performances, podcasts and interviews, raw live broadcasts, reactions and screen commentary, compilations with no narration, film and TV clips, sports broadcasts, and screen-recorded tutorials.

When a video is turned down, the message names what it thought the video actually was, so you are told your video looked like a podcast rather than only that it was rejected.

⚠️

Reference videos must have English narration, even if your Brand Profile is set to German or Spanish. A Spanish or German video will be turned down with its own message. This is a limit on the analysis, not on the videos you produce: a Brand Profile in another language still uses the style it learned. See Multi-Language.

💡

If your channel is one of the formats above, there is currently no way to train a style from it. Pick the closest narrated documentary or video essay you can find on your own channel, or leave both tabs empty and keep describing what you want in the prompt.

Who can use it, and how often

  • Anyone who can already edit the Brand Profile can train and edit its styles, teammates included. Styles are never visible or editable across workspaces. See Brand Profiles.
  • Each tab has its own allowance, so Editing Style and Script Style never eat into each other. You can start up to 5 analyses a minute on a tab and save that tab’s style up to 20 times a minute. Counted per person, not per workspace.

Good to know

  • Experimental only, and that is the real gate. A saved style does nothing on Low or Medium. If you have trained both tabs and your videos still look and read the same, check your reasoning effort before reporting a bug. See Generation Models.
  • The two tabs are genuinely independent. Training one does not affect the other, one can succeed while the other is turned down, and you can use one and leave the other empty.
  • A turned-down video costs nothing. Analysis does not spend credits. Only the videos you generate do. See Credits & Billing.
  • Your link is sent to an outside service to be watched, so it is checked and cleaned up before it leaves. Only paste links you are comfortable sharing.
  • If an analysis gets stuck, it is closed out as failed rather than left running forever. Run it again.
  • Editing a style does not re-run anything. Your changes are saved as they are and used on your next video. You only pay the wait again if you analyse a new video.
